VinylFindr App
VinylFindr is a mobile app that connects record shoppers and sellers with up to date pricing information from the Discogs database. Making a purchase decision can be difficult for customers when they arrive at a shop for the first time, because it is not always clear to the buyer that they are getting a fair price. The Discogs database and marketplace provide pricing information for records sold worldwide, but an ageing UX does not leverage the features of modern smartphones effectively. Vinylfindr gives customers and sellers the ability to check prices against historical data in just a few taps.
I built a functional mobile app in code by applying my design thinking skills to a wide problem set, tackling discovery, visual design, feature definition, copywriting, third party API integration, testing and deployment, with the assistance of AI models. Delivering this product demonstrates that cutting prototyping and testing cycle time allows designers to validate hypotheses faster. Read on to see how much I was able to build in a 10 day sprint with low cost, open source tools.
This case study is designed to be viewed alongside the functional prototype. If you can’t wait for an in-person demo with me, you can request access to the latest Android build here.
